I am a KCC licensed instrumental teacher and a Registered Guitar Tutor (RGT), teaching acoustic/electric guitar & bass guitar from my home studio near Maidstone in Kent or in my students homes across Maidstone and the surrounding areas, including Ashford, Faversham and the Medway Towns.
With 27 years experience of bass playing and 17 years of acoustic/electric guitar playing, I have played guitar and bass for a number of mid-Kent rock bands over the past two decades and have been teaching in the Maidstone, Medway and Ashford areas since 2005.
I teach beginner~intermediate levels the various styles and techniques of guitar and bass playing in a fun and interactive way. Theory work is a big part of learning to play, so to fully comprehend both the guitar and bass I use well known songs to demonstrate and help my students to understand, I also teach and add various soloing techniques to help encourage my students to practice in their own time. As they grow and progress I can teach them the methods, used by great musicians, to write their own songs.
If they so wish, my students can also follow a syllabus leading towards the RGT electric guitar, RGT acoustic guitar and RGT electric bass grade exams.
The average marks gained by my students in their grade exams is 93%. To pass you need 65% and with a distinction you need 85%.
